I booked this on a whim and it became the highlight of the entire trip. You paddle along the Algarve coastline into the sea caves, finishing at the Benagil Cave — a natural cavity with a circular skylight in the ceiling. The light coming through is extraordinary.

The guides run a brief safety lesson before you get in the water. No prior experience needed. Go as early as you can get there — it gets busy by mid-morning. Bring a waterproof phone case. You will not regret it.

Do not visit the Acropolis without a guide. I tried reading the information boards and gave up within ten minutes. With a guide you understand what you are actually looking at — and the whole site transforms.

Book in advance. The queues without skip-the-line access are brutal, especially in peak season. Go before 9am if you can. The heat and the crowds both build fast. The museum alone is worth half a day — do not rush it.
